UNITED TEAM NEWS FOR IPSWICH CLASH

Garry Monk provides the latest team news ahead of Saturday's game...

Garry Monk says United are carrying "a few bumps and bruises" but have no major injury concerns heading into Saturday’s visit of Ipswich Town.

Monk says captain Liam Bridcutt is “very close” to being back in contention after missing the recent victories over Cardiff City and Blackburn Rovers, while full-back Gaetano Berardi returned to training on Monday after recovering from an injury sustained during the opening day defeat at Queens Park Rangers.

“We’ve got a few bumps and bruises, as expected,” said Monk. “But everyone’s fighting to be fit and ready and recovered for Saturday.

“Liam Bridcutt is very close. We had a very light session today (Thursday) with the whole group and everybody will be out on the training pitch again tomorrow.

“Picking up knocks is inevitable as part of a busy schedule, but it’s nothing serious at all with any of them.

“It’s just about recovering and being ready to train again tomorrow. Everyone’s back out on the pitch – we’ve got a full squad and I’m looking forward to it.

“Gaetano Berardi has been training all week and it’s good to have him back out there.

“He’s enthusiastic – he wants to be part of the squad. He’s still a couple of weeks away from selection and may need some game time with the Under-23s first, but it’s great to have him back in training.

“He’s a great character and a big part of our squad.

“Everyone at this moment in time is really eager to be out on the training field and make sure they’re up for selection for the first team.”
