An orphanage in Uganda has received a large Christmas gift thanks to the generosity from the Leeds United Ladies Juniors.
The Leeds United Ladies Junior side donated clothing, boots, balls and football kits to the orphanage and the parcels have arrived just in time for Christmas.
The items received will now be shared between children at the orphanage who will now get to use them in their day to day life and it will help them to enjoy playing sports and games after their educational sessions.
The children in the orphanage, who come from various disadvantaged backgrounds, take part in english and maths classes in school and get to enjoy playing football after their school classes.
With more than 240 children as well as staff, the orphanage relies heavily on donations like the one from the Leeds United Ladies.
The orphanage works with vulnerable children in the community to keep them out of trouble, to protect them and to help develop their potential. They pride themselves in helping the orphans to discover and improve their talents through games and sports like football, netball, athletics, music, dance and drama.
A spokesperson from the orphanage expressed his thanks to the Ladies Junior side and said: “I surely don't know how to and what words to use to thank you Leeds United Ladies Juniors for your support, help and care you showing to our orphanage home and football academy, thank you very much.
“The donation has brought a very big smile to the faces of our children and it has changed the attitude of these children as the donation has restored the lost love and hope they had felt.
“We are very lucky and blessed to be part of the Leeds United family. Thank you from us all.”
