As the Leeds United Ladies side approaches the halfway mark in their first season back in partnership with Leeds United, we catch up with Ladies first team player Shelbey Morris on the side’s progression so far.
Whites Ladies midfielder, Shelbey, said: “I definitely think since the backing of Leeds United, our team has seen some major development. This has come down to now being able to train at Thorp Arch and getting access to the best facilities the club has in place.
“We’ve have also seen a big increase in media coverage which has had a massive impact on us as a team and given us more opportunities to showcase what the women’s game is all about.”
Shelbey tells us how important it is for the team to get their heads down and train hard in the New Year.
She added: “I think the next half of the season is very important for us and with all the hard work and effort the girls are putting in at training, I’m sure the results will come.”
Shelbey signed for Leeds United two games into the season and tells us about her highlight of the season so far.
She said: “The highlight for me has to be playing at Bramall Lane when we played against Sheffield United. To be able to play on a pitch like that is what football is all about.
“Although I’m not a Leeds fan myself, playing for such a big club is such an honour and every time I step out on to the pitch I feel proud to be representing Leeds United.”
