Leeds United Ladies got off to a good start and were soon in the Morecambe penalty box trying to break down the visitors back line but it wasn’t long before the away side applied pressure.
The exchanges were played out in the centre of the Batley pitch with both teams testing the defence but didn’t manage to break them down. Leeds had the lion’s share of the possession but could not convert to chances.
It took 18 minutes for the deadlock to be broken. Morecambe had been getting closer when their threat turned into a goal. A Leeds attempted clearance only went as far as the Morecambe striker Yasmine Swarbrick who just had to direct her shot on target and slot their opener past an unsighted Lauryn Colman. Morecambe went forward at every opportunity but their attempts were being pulled back as the referee adjudged them offside.
Just before half time Leeds went further behind. A good solo goal from Morecambes’ Swarbrick who surged into the box and left the Leeds defence chasing behind her. She wrong footed the Leeds Keeper and struck the ball into the back of the net. Leeds 0 Morecambe 2

Leeds started the second half much as they had left the first and but were still suffering from the late Morecambe goal.
Leeds’ forwards Marty Petrova and Liuli Dyson were unable to convert their chances whilst the midfield were struggling to hold possession. A cracking shot from Hunt hit the underside of the bar but ricocheted back out into the safety of the Morecambe ‘keepers arms.
Shannon Beal was brought on to cover for Isabelle Hassleman on 55 minutes to try and plug the gap in defence.
On the hour mark, Morecambe came close again and only the quick thinking of Lauryn Colman saved them from falling further behind. With the offside trap beaten, Morecambe were bearing down on goal when Lauryn Colman raced off her line and cleared the ball ahead of the Morecambe forward.
Sophie Scargill did some good work cutting out the threat from the Morecambe front line as was Captain Cath Hamill, but it was not enough to stop a third goal from the visitors. Some fantastic skill from the outstanding Morecambe number 9 Yasmine Swarbrick saw another great solo goal to cap her hat-trick. Leeds 0 Morecambe 3
Charlotte Adams replaced Shelby Morris after 74 minutes which is where Leeds found there consolation goal from. A lofted pass from the Leeds Midfield found Arianne Parnham on the left.
Arianne used her considerable pace to race down the left hand side and get her cross into the area. The cross hit Charlotte Adams and was deflected into the net for Leeds’ only goal of the afternoon.
