Preview: Durham Cestria vs Leeds United Women

Whites face tough away trip.

Leeds United Women face a tough trip to FA Women’s National League Division One North leaders Durham Cestria this Sunday.

This is Durham’s last home game of the season and they are unbeaten at home so far, winning nine and drawing one of their 10, unsurprisingly the best home record in the division.

The pressure is on at the top of the table, with Cestria currently holding a six-point lead over Newcastle, but the Magpies have two games in hand so there really is no room for error for Sunday's hosts.

Durham’s excellent home record and resolute defensive record makes this arguably the most challenging trip of the season for Rick Passmoor and his side, but they will be buoyed after returning to winning ways on Thursday night with a clinical performance against Hull.

The Whites were 4-0 up by half time thanks to a brace from top scorer Abbie Brown, a first goal of the season for Cath Hamill and a goal from the tireless Jess Rousseau.

Sarah Danby’s stunning free-kick, the pick of the goals, made it 5-0 after the break before a brace from former Whites striker Laura Bartup and a late strike from Hope Knight made the scoreline look a lot more respectable for Hull.

Supporter Information:

For supporters making the trip, the game kicks off at 2pm at Maiden Castle, DH1 3SE.

Players to Watch:

Poppy Pritchard is one of Durham’s key players going forward, the exciting forward leads the division’s goalscoring charts with 17.

Leeds forward Brown will still have her eye on top spot, she currently has 15.
