An enthralling game between Leeds United Women and Chorley Women finished 1-1 at Tadcaster, meaning the points were shared upon then return to league action for Dan O’Hearne’s side.

Leeds who were playing their first league game since October, took a while to get going at home to Chorley.

The first chance of the contest came after 18 minutes when the returning Laura Bartup looked to trouble the keeper from 25 yards out, but saw her effort flash wide.

Emily Stocks had a great chance for the visitors but couldn't quite connect, before Sandra Soares-Martins then shot at the visiting keeper when well placed.

Bartup then came close twice in a matter of minutes, firstly firing just wide before then striking over from 15 yards out.

Chorley took the lead four minutes before the break when Lisa Topping scored from 25 yards out. That goal was enough to send the away team in with the lead at the interval.

Half Time: Leeds United Women 0-1 Chorley Women

Leeds came out a different side in the second period with Sarah Danby denied by a last ditch block, showing attacking intent from the off.

Chorley kept coming at the hosts though with Rachel Windle firing just wide from long range, in what was a fast paced opening to the second period.

Leeds kept pressing for an equaliser and Kathryn Smith was denied by a fine save from Bradley.

The Whites got the equaliser they had deserved when Smith fired home from inside the area. The attacking midfielder showed great footwork to create space and the chance for herself before hitting the back of the net.

Leeds then had a golden chance to take the lead when Rebekah Bass was felled in the area. The defender steamed down the left-hand-side and was brought down, getting her side a penalty.

However, Danby saw her penalty saved by Bradley as the ‘keeper continued to impress between the posts for Chorley.

Both sides went for the jugular with Charlotte Evans coming close for visitors and Bartup shooting over for Leeds, but neither side could force a winner as the game ended with a share of the spoils.
