Laura Bartup: It felt good to be back out there

Forward scores in cup victory.

Laura Bartup gave her thoughts to LUTV after the 4-0 win for her side against Harrogate Town Ladies.

The victory sent the Whites into the semi-final of the County Cup, setting up a last-four clash with Bradford City.

Speaking after the match, Bartup - who scored the last goal in the win - summarised the performance.

She said: “We were just glad to get the win to be honest, and get into the next round.

“It was my first game back since before Christmas, so it felt good to be out there and help the girls to win.

“It’s important to be in the last four, we knew it would be a tough game as we had heard Harrogate were a good team.

“I thought we had spells where we didn’t really play how we can play, but at times we passed it around well.

“At the end of the day, we put four goals in the back of the net and we’re through to the next round which is all that really matters.”

Next up for Dan O’Hearne and his Leeds United Women side is the FAWNL Plate match away at Alnwick Town, representing another opportunity for success.

“We’ve got a good run of games now,” Bartup explained.

“We’ve got another cup game next weekend and then we’re back into the league so we’re looking forward to it.

“Alnwick will be another tough game next week, a long journey too, but we’ve been there once already this season.

“We’ll have another good and hard week of training to be ready for it.”
