Mick Wood: It’s great for the club

Assistant manager on cup victory.

After Leeds United Women put in a professional performance away at Harrogate Town Ladies, Mick Wood gave his thoughts to LUTV.

The assistant manager was happy with the overall performance from his side, after settling into the game in the opening stages.

“We were a bit patchy in the first 20 or so,” Wood explained.

“But, once we got into it and started moving the ball as we can, I thought we grew into the game. Credit to Harrogate, they worked hard and pressed us quite well.

“We felt as a coaching team that we were trying to do a bit too much on the ball. When we play a one or two touch game, we’re a good footballing side.

“We started doing that after 20 minutes or so and it got us going. We had to be patient with the ball and that built us up to get our goals and settle everyone down a bit.”

The Whites are now into the semi-final of the County Cup and Wood believes that it is great for the club to make this process, whilst urging the team on to keep achieving more.

He said: “It’s great for the club.

“We’re looking to get to a final, we think we can at least get to one of them so it is nice to go into the next round of this one.

“We’re now in a semi-final, the next one will be a good game for sure so let’s see what happens!”
