Preview: Leeds United Women vs Durham Women

Vitality Women’s FA Cup Third Round tie.

Leeds United Women are in Vitality Women’s FA Cup Third Round action this weekend, as they take on Durham Women FC on Sunday at the Global Stadium (1pm).

The Whites will be facing Championship opposition having progressed well through the previous three rounds, scoring 10 goals in the process, which included a 90th minute winner from Kathryn Smith away at Norton & Stockton Ancients last weekend.

Being two divisions higher than Dan O’Hearne’s team, Durham have entered the competition at this stage and will be travelling down to Tadcaster as strong favourites.

The visitors are currently fourth in the FA Women’s Championship. From their 10 matches this campaign, they have won six, and drawn four. In that run, they’ve netted 13 times and conceded 10, whilst also losing their last three matches.

Leeds haven’t reached this stage since the 2018/19 campaign, when they won their first four matches before losing out to local-side, Huddersfield Town Ladies.

If the scores are level after 90 minutes at the Global Stadium, the match will head to extra time. If there’s still no winner, then it will be a penalty shoot-out to decide who progresses to the Fourth Round.
