Dan O’Hearne: We just couldn’t put the ball away

Thoughts from the manager on derby defeat.

Dan O’Hearne was frustrated to see his side lose in the West Yorkshire derby away at Bradford City, despite making a number of chances throughout the game.

It’s the first time this season that the Whites have failed to find the back of the net, as they went down one-nil at Valley Parade.

Speaking after the match, O’Hearne gave his thoughts to LUTV.

He said: “I thought we dominated possession and dominated chances. They’ve had one opportunity from our mistake and scored.

“We’ve had a lot opportunities, especially in the second half. We just couldn’t put the ball away and it has cost us yet again, as it did at Chorley.

“Football is about putting the ball in the net and if you can’t do it, you are not going to win games.

“If you are not creating chances you have got problems, but we are creating a lot. The amount we’re creating though, you have to be putting one, two, or three of them away.”

Next up for Leeds United Women is an opportunity to get back to winning ways with a home match against in-form FC United of Manchester, this Sunday.

“We’ll be back training on Thursday,” O’Hearne explained.

“FC United are in good form, I think they’ve won four on the trot and they are at Stockport next. It’ll be a tough game, they all are, but we have to bounce back.

“We’ve dominated every game this season, even when we’ve been beaten. We have to cut the errors out and put the ball in the back of the net.”
