Preview: Wolves Women FC vs Leeds United Women

Cup action for the Whites.

Dan O’Hearne will take his Leeds United side to the West Midlands this weekend, when they take on Wolves Women FC (2pm).

The match is the first FAWNL Cup tie of the campaign and comes at the ‘determining round’ stage of the competition.

Fresh from three wins on the bounce last week, Leeds go to their FAWPL Premier Division opposition full of confidence, looking to progress to the next round. That recent form for Leeds has seen them go to the top of the table, but this weekend will be a totally different test.

Wolves play at a higher level than the Whites and started their league campaign well, with four wins and a draw in their five matches.

That record currently has them second in the table and if O’Hearne’s side are to progress, they will have to do something that no other team has this season, as Wolves are yet to concede a goal in any game.

The match is due to be played at the CKW Stadium, which is the home of AFC Wulfrunians.

What has Dan O’Hearne said, ahead of the match?

“It’s a cup tie so anything can happen. We’ve been on a good run in the league lately so we go there full of confidence, but we are aware that Wolves are a very good side and they are also doing well in the league. Focus will be important today and it will be a really good test, everyone is looking forward to the match.”
