Dan O’Hearne: I have learnt a lot from this game

Manager on Hashtag friendly.

Leeds United Women’s manager, Dan O’Hearne has given his thoughts after overseeing the 1-1 draw with Hashtag United Women on Sunday lunchtime.

As his side look to build up their match fitness and prepare for the 2021/22 campaign, O’Hearne feels there is still more to come from the squad.

“It was a tale of two halves,” the manager explained.

“We were dominant in the first half and we should have gone in two or three goals up, but we missed chances.

“The second half was a very poor half, we’ve spoken with the players and said that’s unacceptable.

“Obviously we are making a lot of changes and players have been played out of position at times, but the desire to win the ball first and foremost wasn’t there.

“The work-rate was there, but we need more.”

The Whites have three more friendly matches this week before they kick-off the league campaign, with Liverpool U21s first up in midweek.

O’Hearne said: “It’ll be a tough game on Wednesday, we will definitely need to raise our game against Liverpool.

“We’ll put this match behind us and stay positive, but I have learnt a lot from this game.

“We will look back at the video, analyse it, and then look forward to playing on Wednesday evening.

“It’s a big squad so we will rotate, we’ve got a game on Wednesday and Thursday, so everyone can expect to get some game time.”
