Preview: Leeds United Women v Chester Le Street

Laura Bartup reflects on the start of the 2020/21 campaign.

Leeds United Women will face Chester-le-Street Town in their next league fixture on Sunday 4th October as they hope to secure another three points and climb up the table.

The FA WNL Division One North match will take place at Global Stadium, home to Tadcaster FC, with kick-off scheduled for 2pm.

The team will be looking for another win after achieving their first three points of the new season on Sunday afternoon against Durham Cestria, all thanks to a winning goal from newcomer Laura Bartup, who has now scored two in two and will be hoping to add to that tally at the weekend.

Speaking to the forward following the 1-0 win, Bartup said: “I got a goal last week on my debut  but unfortunately we couldn’t get anything from it but we managed to get the three points today, we dug deep and played really well as a team, I think we were all shattered by the end of the game. It was such a relief when the final whistle went, and we got that first three points of the season.

“I’m absolutely loving it here; the girls are lovely, and I feel like I’ve settled in straight away. I knew straight away I was going to sign for Leeds United and the reason I came to the club was to fight for promotion so we’ll be going into the next match looking for another three points and take each game as it comes.”

Chester-le-Street Town currently sit top of the Division One North league, having played an extra game of the 2020/21 season with two wins and one draw under the belt.

A live blog will be available on the official Leeds United website with highlights available on LUTV after the game.
