It was late heartbreak for Leeds United women as they fell to a late Brighouse goal, ending their eight match unbeaten run.

The game started at a slow pace with the first chance coming from Brighouse, when Pilling volleyed over from 20 yards after five minutes.

Pilling then kept Johnson busy as she tested the Leeds keeper from 25 yards. Proud then headed a free kick just wide for Brighouse and the best chance of the game fell the home captain Cass when she smashed a shot against the crossbar 11 minutes before the break.

Leeds had little in terms of possession but went into the break level.

The second period started in similar fashion with few clear chances, before the hosts, just after the hour saw Pilling smash an effort off the bar for a second time.

Cass then saw her shot kicked off the line by Bridie Hannon before Johnson pulled off a smart save from Whitham's strike.

The game looked to be heading for a stalemate, only for Brighouse to pounce in the 85th minute, when Johnson saved Parnham’s shot onto the bar, before Proud tapped the rebound in.
