Whites suffer 3-0 loss in FA WNL Plate clash

Nottingham Forest 3 (Dexter 41', Hamilton 47' 51')

Leeds United 0

Leeds United Women were on the end of a 3-0 defeat, as they fell out of the FA WNL Plate at the second round stage to a strong Nottingham Forest.

The Reds who currently sit a league above Leeds started the game with a high tempo, as Precious Hamilton tested The Whites' Georgia Wattam after just seven minutes. 5 minutes later, Jodie Hunter made a break into the Forest area, before forcing Aguirre into a good save.

After continued pressure from the home side, Forest broke the deadlock in the 41st minute, as Laura Dexter picked up on Hamilton's cross which arrived deep into the Leeds box, slotting home.

Forest went into the break with a 1-0 lead, and it was more of the same in the second half, as it took The Reds only two minutes to double their lead. After withstanding a number of scrappy shots, Precious Hamilton got her first of the game after tapping in at the back post.

Leeds' misfortune continued just four minutes later, when Hamilton bagged her brace. Wattam was drawn out of her box, before Hamilton knocked the ball past her, and struck into the empty net.

Kirstie Hunt went close in the late stages as she smashed a shot at goal, but again Aja Aguirre was wise to it, and held on to keep a clean sheet.

Dan O'Hearne on the defeat to Nottingham Forest:

"It's disappointing, we more than matched them the first half. I thought we were the better team, but then they got the goal. Individual errors cost us, and ultimately I think we were too nice, we need to get that ruthless streak back."
