Leeds Women fall to a 2-1 derby defeat against league leaders

Barnsley win fierce local derby at Thorp Arch

The game started at a very fast pace with both sides looking for an opener with Abbie Brown forcing the visitors keeper into the first save of the game.
   
Leeds took the lead on the 17th minute when Brown finished off a superb move. The Whites nearly made it when Olivia Smart was denied by a deflection. Smart then fired just over before Bartup fired over for the visitors.

The visitors levelled when Woodhouse went clean through, rounded Wattam and shot into an empty net. The goal fired up the visitors and they were soon in from when Bartup fired in a brilliant free kick from 20 yards.
   
Leeds went close through both Parkin and Brown but couldn’t muster an equaliser and it was the Tykes who went home victorious.
