TEAM NEWS: COOK TO MISS THREE GAMES

Midfielder faces suspension, starting at Reading...

Lewis Cook will serve a three-game suspension after being shown a straight red card in Thursday evening’s Capital One Cup tie at Doncaster.

The 18-year-old, who opened the scoring at the Keepmoat Stadium, was dismissed for the first time in his senior career for a 37th-minute challenge on Doncaster’s Aaron Taylor-Sinclar.

Cook will now miss United’s forthcoming trips to Reading and Bristol City, as well as next weekend’s home fixture against Sheffield Wednesday.

Uwe Rosler said: “I think we should not be too harsh on Lewis.

“He scored his first goal in senior football and he was very excited. In that split second he was probably a bit too excited. So I’m not too harsh on him.

“He’ll feel low at the moment and we have to pick him up. The players have to pick him up. Lewis needs to keep himself fit and come back strong.”
