Leeds United have signed Coventry City midfielder Michael Doyle on a season-long loan.

The former Sky Blues skipper adds further strength to Simon Grayson's midfield ahead of the new campaign.

Doyle also brings a wealth of experience, having made almost 300 appearances during his six years with Coventry.

Having started his career at Celtic, Doyle moved to Highfield Road in the summer of 2003 and went on to represent the Republic of Ireland at both under-21 level and senior level.

Doyle has been heavily involved in Coventry's pre-season and scored for the club against Everton last week.

United boss Grayson said: "Micky brings experience, knowledge and quality, and he is a good addition to our squad.

"He's played over 300 games in the Championship, captained Coventry, and brings a know-how that I think it will be important to us this season."
