Aussie midfielder set for Asia Cup...

Our Australian midfielder Neil Kilkenny has been named in the Socceroos squad for the forthcoming Asia Cup.

Killa has been named in Holger Osieck's squad for the first time and he will depart for the Asia Cup, to be held in Qatar, after the game against Middlesbrough on January 1. If the Aussies progress he could miss the entire month of January.

Our 24-year-old midfielder was last named in an Australian squad in 2008 for a World Cup qualifier against China. He was also a member of the Socceroos squad which travelled to the Olympics that summer.

The Socceroos will assemble for a pre-tournament training camp in Dubai from Monday 2011 which will include an international friendly match against the UAE at the Khalifa Stadium in Al Ain, UAE on Wednesday 5 January 2011 (Kick-off 6:30pm local).

Australia will play their opening match of Group C against India on Monday 10 January (4:15pm local), followed by South Korea on Friday 14 January (4:15pm local) and their final group match is against Bahrain on Tuesday 18 January ,(4:15pm local) .

The quarter-finals of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar will be played on Friday 21 and Saturday 22 January, the semi-finals on Tuesday 25 January, third place play-off on Friday 28 January and the final on Saturday 29 January.
