STRONG SQUAD FOR WYCOMBE - EVANS

STRONG SQUAD FOR WYCOMBE - EVANS

Head coach previews Friday night's friendly...

Steve Evans has confirmed he will be taking his “strongest available squad” to face Wycombe Wanderers in Friday night’s friendly at Adams Park (7.30pm kick-off).

United travel to the League Two side on the back of consecutive Sky Bet Championship victories, and Evans is looking to use the international weekend to keep that positive momentum building.

Lewis Cook, Stuart Dallas and Jordan Botaka are among those who will miss out while away on international duty, but it will be an otherwise full-strength team lining up for our first trip to Wycombe since August 2009’s 1-0 win.

“Our strongest available squad will be travelling to Wycombe on Friday,” said Evans. “We’re treating this as a normal, competitive game.

“We’ll be backed in great numbers once again by the travelling Leeds United supporters, and I’m sure this fixture will attract a healthy home crowd from Wycombe.

“That requires the players to demonstrate a certain level of effort and commitment that they may have gotten away with had this game been played at a training ground.

“The hard work has continued at Thorp Arch since Saturday’s win at Huddersfield, and we have no intention of letting that slip at Adams Park on Friday night.

“It’s a game I know both sides will be taking very seriously.

“The supporters can expect to see the usual faces – aside from those away on international duty – but there is also the opportunity for certain players to force their way into our plans between now and then.

“This is a great opportunity for us to get away as a group, spend some time together and keep the momentum going from our last two games.”
