U18s: VICTORY TO INSTALL CONFIDENCE

Young chargers run out 3-1 winners against Derby County…

Richard Naylor’s Under-18s put in an impressive display on Saturday against a strong Derby County side and the manager is hoping the victory will install a new confidence in his players.

Richard’s young chargers came away with a 3-1 victory thanks to goals from Eoghan Stokes, Adam Berry and Tyla Bell.

The game saw a number of players making their first starts for the club, including Adam Berry who marked the occasion with a goal.

Also included in the side for United was centre-back Jack Vann, who has just been called up for England’s Under-16 squad.

“Saturday was a really good performance and really pleased for everyone involved,” said a delighted Richard. “They were a bigger and stronger side but we had a good shape about us, we played the ball well and I’m really pleased with the result.

“The only disappointing thing was that their goal came in the 94th because the lads deserved a clean sheet.

“It was a good result and important one because it gives the lads confidence and it has proved to them that they can compete at this level.

“There were some young players in the team on Saturday, some as young as 16, and they really showed what they can do against bigger, older and stronger players.

“I’m hoping that the result will mean that they will be able to have a bit more belief in themselves going forward.”

United: Dixon, Booker, Vann, Bennett, Tiesse, Roper, Berry, Lyman, Stokes, Amiri (Crouz), Mulhern (Bell).
