Blackburn Rovers: Match officials appointed

Appointments made for Saturday’s fixture.

The match officials for Leeds United’s clash with Blackburn Rovers on Saturday have been confirmed with Matthew Donohue set to be the man in the middle.

This is the fifth season the Southend born and now Greater Manchester based official has been a referee in the second tier, having been promoted to the Select Group 2 list of referees ahead of the 2019/20 season.

Saturday’s match will be the second time he has taken charge of a Leeds United fixture, after overseeing the 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion at Elland Road back in August, in which he cautioned four Whites players.

Donohue has refereed Blackburn Rovers the joint most out of any side in the EFL, alongside Huddersfield Town, on 14 occasions, overseeing six wins, four draws and four losses, issuing 34 yellow cards and one red card.

He last refereed Blackburn in their 3-2 away defeat at Stoke City last March.

Donohue’s last match officiating was Huddersfield’s 2-1 away victory at Sunderland on 29th November.
