BUILDING A FORTRESS?

BUILDING A FORTRESS?

Luke Murphy on fortune continuing at home…

Brian McDermott and his squad are seeking more home comforts again on Saturday when Watford are the visitors to Elland Road.

Wednesday's 2-0 success against Wigan Athletic saw the winning run extended to five games on home soil, and victory on Saturday will thrust United firmly into Play-Off contention.

“We want our home form to continue,” said midfielder Luke Murphy. “The manager always said that he wanted Elland Road to be a fortress and he wanted teams to fear coming to Elland Road.

“I think that we are building that picture with the performances and the results we have been getting at home. We had two home games this week, and we’ll be looking to get maximum points from both games.”

“Elland Road is a special place. The fans are unbelievable, especially in the game against Middlesbrough.

“I thought that the atmosphere in that game was by far the best I have experienced. It’s taken a bit of time to get used to but I’m hoping that I have got to grips with it now and I’m looking to push on now.”

December is the busiest month of the season with seven games, including the hectic festive schedule.

“Christmas is the busiest time of the season," added Luke.

“You can go from not being anywhere near the top to getting yourself up there. And it can also go the other way.

“We are there-or-thereabouts at the moment and we have to make sure that once the Christmas period is over that we are still right up there. That is where we want to be coming into the New Year.”
