Preview: Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Leeds United

A look ahead to Saturday's match.

Leeds United face Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday afternoon (3pm), looking to go into the international break on a high.

The Whites head to Molineux to face a Wolves side who are four points ahead of them in the table, in what is a fiercely contested battle in the bottom half of the league.

Last time out, Javi Gracia’s side came from behind twice to pick up an important point at home to Brighton & Hove Albion. Julen Lopetegui’s side were defeated at St James’ Park, against Newcastle United.

The earlier league fixture this season was on the opening day of the campaign. Daniel Podence put Wolves ahead, but Rodrigo hit back to level, before a second half winner came for Leeds courtesy of an own-goal from Rayan Ait-Nouri.

This time around, both teams are in need of the three points as they aim to move clear of a hotly-contested relegation fight, which involves no fewer than nine teams.

Wolves have won five from 13 matches at Molineux this season, whilst also drawing two and losing six. On the road, Leeds have only secured the one victory so they will now be looking to add that tally this weekend.

Against the Seagulls in the draw last time out, the trio of Luis Sinisterra, Rodrigo and Patrick Bamford returned to the squad, giving Javi Gracia more attacking options. It has however been confirmed that midfield regular Tyler Adams will miss Saturday’s game through injury.

A player the United defence will know well is top of the scoring charts for Wolves this season. Having scored on the opening day, Podence has five in the league, joint top with Ruben Neves.
