Leeds United face Nottingham Forest away from home on Sunday lunchtime, as they return to Premier League action following the recent Emirates FA Cup win over Accrington Stanley.

The Whites head to the City Ground in a match that will be another tough test, against a side just two places above them in the standings.

Speaking ahead of the match, Jesse Marsch gave an update on the fitness of his side as they prepare to head to the East Midlands. 

He said: “We made the announcement yesterday on Rodri. 

“So unfortunately, he picked up an injury at the end of the match that'll keep him out for probably six to eight weeks. 

Adam [Forshaw] we're building up but he’s not quite ready yet. Archie [Gray] is almost back in training. 

“Stuart Dallas is making really good progress. Sonny Perkins also picked up a 10 day ankle injury in the match against Accrington, so he won’t be ready for this match either.

“Everyone else is back in training and ready for Sunday.”

Forest have been resurgent in recent weeks, with Steve Cooper’s side picking up points to move up the table, after a tough start to the season.  

Three points separate the sides - with Leeds having played a game less - meaning a close counter is expected in Nottingham, between two teams who have seen their squads bolstered by new arrivals over the recent transfer window.

“I think the focus for us on the day will be to be at our best,” Marsch explained, on the match.  

“They played 4-2-3-1 last time out against Manchester United and I think they rotated a few players. 

“I think we can predict who we're going to see on the pitch, but there will be some surprises I believe. They've played more of a diamond as of late. 

“So, we're preparing for a diamond 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-2. Earlier in the season they were playing with three at the back.

“We go to a rival now, to a team that's fighting with us in the table, a team that we respect, a place that's not easy to play. 

“It’s a moment for us to show that we're ready for some bigger challenges and that we've grown a lot over the last six weeks.  

“And I believe that we have, and I'm really excited for the match on Sunday, really excited.”
