Jesse Marsch: We are very aware of what the tournament means

Head coach looks ahead to Accrington match.

Jesse Marsch has been speaking with the media at his pre-match press conference, prior to his side facing Accrington Stanley away from home this weekend.

The Whites take on their Sky Bet League One opposition in the Emirates FA Cup fourth round, aiming to progress into Monday night’s fifth round draw.

Going into the match on Saturday lunchtime which is live on BBC One, Marsch gave an update on the fitness of his squad.

He said: “Adam Forshaw and Archie Gray are still out, but Archie has been active on the pitch and Adam is feeling better.

“Crysencio Summerville is on the pitch but not yet training with the team, he should be in team training next week and be available for next weekend so that’s a bonus.

“Stuart Dallas is still injured and then Coops [Liam Cooper] is a bit questionable and Tyler Adams is a bit questionable for our match [on Saturday].

“So that will be a matchday decision with those two.”

The head coach is expecting to face another tough test going to WHAM Stadium, and has spoken about taking the FA Cup seriously, as he has done in all competitions throughout his career.

“We are very aware of what the tournament means,” Marsch explained.

“What it holds in terms if David vs Goliath, and how that can be very inspiring narrative

"I want the team to always play with full intensity and never take anything for granted.

“I think with lower division teams that’s maybe the most important thing, that when you step on the pitch you know this will be a very difficult match.

“We have to play to our highest level and go after the game physically, and manage the match, so that will certainly be our emphasis come Saturday.”
