Preview: Leeds United vs Brentford

Premier League action at Elland Road.

Leeds United face Brentford on Sunday afternoon, in their latest Premier League match on home turf (2pm).

The Whites return to league action after a convincing win over Cardiff City during the week, in their Emirates FA Cup Third Round replay. Willy Gnonto scored twice, Rodrigo added another to his tally and Patrick Bamford scored twice to follow up his goal at Aston Villa.

The teams have met each other three times in the Premier League, and goals have been regular. From those matches, the net has been found 14 times - six for Leeds and eight for Sunday’s visitors. The most memorable of those goals came on the final day of last season in West London, from Jack Harrison.

The Bees come into the game having won their last three in the league. That record has put them into the top half of the table and a win on Sunday could propel them up further, potentially into the top six depending on results elsewhere.

Jesse Marsch’s side will be aiming to stop the ascent of their upcoming opponents though, with three points themselves. Following results elsewhere over the weekend, a maximum return on Sunday would see Leeds go ahead of West Ham and Leicester into 14th.

There could be a debut as well for new club record signing Georginio Rutter. The striker was introduced to the crowd in Wednesday’s home match with Cardiff and is now eligible to feature on Sunday, if selected.

Two of the Premier League’s top scorers so far this season are likely to be going head to head in the match. Rodrigo is in double figures for the campaign with 10, whilst visiting striker Ivan Toney has scored 13.

The match has been selected for live television coverage within the UK, on Sky Sports. For those not attending the game or able to watch on Sky Sports, you can stay right here on leedsunited.com to follow live updates throughout the 90 minutes, or listen to uninterrupted commentary on LUTV!
