Willy Gnonto: We are enjoying ourselves and training hard

Forward gives his thoughts from Spain.

Italian international Willy Gnonto has continued to settle into life at Leeds United during the training camp in Spain, after arriving at the club from FC Zurich at the end of the summer transfer window.

The 19-year-old forward had to be patient before his first team debut, but when given his chance he has made an instant impression on the side.

Gnonto was asked about how the training camp has gone so far, and how much he is enjoying spending time with his new teammates.

He said: “It has been great. We are enjoying ourselves and we are training hard.

“I try to work hard but enjoy myself and have fun with my teammates. This is who I am and I don’t think I have to change it.

“All my team-mates from the start have been nice with me and I am just very happy. I just try to help them on the pitch and bring what I have to do.

“I was sure when I chose to come to Leeds and I do not regret it. For me, I think this was the best choice for me and for my family, so I just want to show it on the pitch.”

After making a big impact when introduced to the team against Liverpool, which saw the Whites secure a memorable win at Anfield, the young forward now wants to keep showing he can play his part in the team.

“I just wanted to start in the best way possible,” Gnonto explained.

“I wasn’t surprised [with his performance against Liverpool] because I know what I can do. Every time I go on the pitch, I just try to do what I have to do.

“Jesse has his mentality, has his plan and he tries to do it on the pitch. But we are still free to do what we have to do.

“We are fast, we have qualities, we just try to enjoy ourselves and bring something to the team.

“I just want to do what the coach tells me. Every time I just ask questions to know what I have to do and I think it's easier for me. I try to play better so I think it helps me a lot.
