Meslier retains place in France U21s squad

Les Bleuets set to face Germany and Belgium

Head coach Sylvain Ripoll unveiled his France U21s squad today, with Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier selected for the friendlies against Germany and Belgium.

Having qualified for next year's 2023 UEFA European Under-21 Championship after perfectly negotiating the playoffs, Les Bleuets are now turning their attention to preparations for the competition.

France's U23s will start with a trip to Germany on Friday September 23 at the MDCC-Arena in Magdeburg, before hosting Belgium on Monday September 26 at the Hainaut stadium in Valenciennes.

Illan Meslier has been ever present for Leeds United this season, playing every minute of our league and cup games, keeping a clean sheet in the 3-0 win over Chelsea.

Meslier has also started 10 of the last 12 games for France's U23s, helping them to first place in their Euro 2023 qualifying group, with seven wins and two draws.
