Jesse Marsch: We’re expecting a tough match

Head coach previews Brentford match.

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s trip to face Brentford away from home, Jesse Marsch addressed the media.

From the opening five matches, the Whites have amassed eight points after two wins, two draws and just the one defeat.

Following Tuesday’s draw with Everton, the head coach gave an update on the fitness of his squad, whilst also then talking about this weekend’s upcoming opponents.

Marsch began: “An update on Rodrigo - when it pops out it’s as good a case scenario as possible. That means it doesn’t need surgery and that in three to four weeks, it can calm down.

“Maybe it’s longer, maybe it’s shorter, we’ll see. He feels good and confident he will be ready soon. We’re targeting after international break.

“Everyone else is in training, except for Stuart Dallas.”

On Brentford, the Leeds United head coach has happy memories of facing them on the final day of last season, but is aware they will be a very different prospect this weekend.

“We have good memories of playing there last year, but the situation is completely different now,” Marsch explained.

“Brentford have had a great start and great season last year. You have to talk about set-pieces and how affective they are, our preparation today was looking at set-plays on them and what we need to be good at on the day.

“We’re expecting a tough match, and again, you see there are some similarities between games we’ve played so far and a lot that is different.

“Now it is a new season, a new moment and new opportunity for us against a good team.”
