Preview: Leeds United vs Aston Villa

Look ahead to the clash with Villa!

It’s the third friendly game of the season for Leeds United, as they take on fellow Premier League team Aston Villa at the Suncorp Stadium, in Queensland.

The game will be Leeds’ second and Villa’s first of the tournament, which will take place on Sunday at 2.35pm (AEST), which is 5.35am (BST).

Leeds kicked off the inaugural competition on Thursday when they played Brisbane Roar, resulting in a 2-1 victory for the Whites. Daniel James and Joe Gelhardt supplied the goals, as Jesse Marsch’s side got off to a winning start Down Under.

Aston Villa kicked off their pre-season friendlies on 9th July with a 4-0 triumph against Walsall, where Leon Bailey opened the scoring in matter of minutes followed up by goals from Cameron Archer, Ollie Watkins and Douglas Luiz. They will now play Leeds, before then facing off against Brisbane Roar to complete the pre-season cup competition.

A player to watch:

Philippe Coutinho is a well-known Premier League player, who has the ability to unlock any team with a defence splitting pass. The Brazilian is tricky to mark and can also find a goal himself, so the Whites will have to keep a close eye on him once again in this pre-season clash.
