Liam Cooper named in Scotland squad

Leeds United captain called up for crucial World Cup play-offs and Nations League triple header

Liam Cooper has been named in Steve Clarke’s Scotland squad, as they prepare for up to five games in June.

1998 was the last time the Scots qualified for a World Cup, but they are now potentially just 180 minutes away. Clarke’s side host Ukraine on June 1st, the winner of that game will face Wales on June 5th, to decide who takes the final place at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The following week, in the Nations League, Scotland face Armenia home and away either side of a trip to the Aviva Stadium in Dublin to play Republic of Ireland.

Cooper is currently sat on 11 international caps, all coming since 2019.

This season in the Premier League, Cooper has featured 21 times and no Leeds United player has won more aerial duels than the skipper’s tally of 82.
