Luke Ayling: The boys are buzzing

Defender talks through his last minute winner.

Luke Ayling shared his thoughts with the media after scoring in stoppage time to secure three points, away at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Whites have now won back to back games, both with goals coming in the final seconds of the respective matches.

Coming back after being two-goals behind at Molineux, goals from Jack Harrison, Rodrigo and then Ayling’s winner sparked jubilant celebrations.

“It’s some buzz, you know,” Ayling said, after the match.

“We came in 2-0 down with a sloppy goal towards the end of the half and the boys heads seemed a bit down.

“But, we came out second half and showed character. Their player getting sent off is a game changer and the boys dug in to get a massive three points, it’s huge.

“We just said to carry on going, we had got into some great positions in the first half and we should maybe have taken a chance before they scored their first goal.

“It’s just a massive result in the end, the boys are buzzing.”

The defender and captain on the night was asked how he felt when he scored, and about the celebrations after he had hit the net!

Ayling said: “We scored, then we got the second soon after, then we went a bit flat and tried to go too long too quickly.

“Then after that we got the goal in the end. I just put my head over it and thought smash it as hard as I can!

“Then I tried to do the Robbie Keane celebration but I couldn’t land the cartwheel which was disappointing, I’ll have to work on that.

“It’s huge for us to put a little bit of daylight, but the teams down there have games in hand. We have to try keep building on these results and and how we’ve been playing.

“I think we’ve been playing well since the new Gaffer has come in, so we are going to keep trying to build, we’ve got a break now so we’ll just try and carry on.”
