Leeds United produced a sensational comeback away at Wolverhampton Wanderers to claim a vital three points in the Premier League, under the lights at Molineux.

Two goals down at half-time, the Whites came back in the second half and scored three goals to claim the victory, courtesy of Jack Harrison, Rodrigo and Luke Ayling's winner in stoppage time.

When the game started, both teams exchanged dangerous moments inside the opening 10 minutes of the match. Adam Forshaw tracked back brilliantly and put in a great challenge on Daniel Podence to deny the striker a clear chance on goal at close range.

From the next attack following the good work from Forshaw, Leeds broke up the pitch. Jack Harrison won a big header on the half-way line which played in Dan James, allowing the winger to sprint forward and cross into the box where Rodrigo volleyed narrowly wide at the near post.

Still inside the opening 10 minutes of the game, Podence did then get a shot away, but his 25-yard or so effort was dealt with well by Illan Meslier who had to watch the swerving ball closely. Another chance inside this fast opening was for Patrick Bamford who controlled well in the box, but shot wide.

Both teams would be forced into an early change, due to injury. Bamford went off for United with Sam Greenwood coming on, whilst Ruben Neves had to leave the pitch and was replaced by Francisco Trincao.

Shortly after the substitutions, the hosts went into the lead. A quick break down the wing found the recently introduced Trincao in space and he pulled the ball back for Jonny to fire into the bottom corner of the goal.

The match became quite stop-start after Wolves had taken the lead. Many stoppages were seen in different areas of the pitch and the early tempo had been quietened down.

For the home side, the substitute was having a major impact on the match and nearly doubled the advantage when he next came forward. Just after eight minutes of added time had been announced following the stoppages, Trincao struck a 25-yard left-footed shot which cannoned back out off the post, with Meslier beaten at full-stretch.

Deep inside the added time, there would be another injury enforced swap for the Whites. Mateusz Klich was forced off the pitch with a head injury and was replaced by Charlie Cresswell in what was a concussion substitution.

In what had been a lengthy first 45 minutes, Wolves would get a second before the interval, scoring in the 11th minute of added on time. It would be the impressive Trincao again, slotting home left-footed from the edge of the box.

HALF TIME: Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-0 Leeds United

The second half got underway and had another big talking point within five minutes of the restart. Having been booked for the same offence in the first half, Raul Jimenez was shown a second yellow card and sent off for another late challenge, this time on Meslier.

Following the incident, the Leeds United goalkeeper was injured and that meant a fourth injury enforced change for the Whites, with Kristoffer Klaesson coming on for his Premier League debut between the posts.

After the hour mark, Luke Ayling was brilliantly played into the box on the wing, and he controlled well, before firing a shot against the post. The rebound came back out to him but was blocked again, before Harrison was alert enough to fire home at the third attempt!

The game was soon level just minutes later, once again through sheer persistence and hard work. After James’ initial effort had come off the bar, Greenwood won the ball back in the box and created a chance for Rodrigo which the forward would fire home, after skipping around the ‘keeper and smashing in low to make it two apiece.

With five minutes remaining before additional time would be shown, a huge chance to complete the turnaround arrived. Harrison was played in down the wing and he pulled the ball across the box where James turned it goalwards, only to see his shot be blocked behind for a corner.

Jose Sa would be called into action to make a fine stop just seconds after, after Harrison cut in from the right this time and opted to shoot, forcing the ‘keeper to tip just over.

Entering the final few seconds of the game, Leeds weren’t to be denied a memorable and sensational comeback to take all three points.

Harrison had played a ball deep into the penalty area and from that, Ayling looked to head back across goal. Pascal Struijk was closest and looked to control, but Ayling was alert enough to re-take control himself and smash home through the legs of Sa in the Wolves net!

The last-grasp winner sparked absolute delirium on the pitch and in the stands, securing another huge three points for Jesse Marsch and his Leeds United side before heading into the international break.
