Tottenham Hotspur beat Leeds United at Elland Road to take the three points in this Premier League encounter.

Leeds had the first big chance of the game when Dan James won a free-kick on the left. Stuart Dallas whipped in a dangerous ball, which Pascal Struijk met but the defender flicked his header narrowly wide of the post.

After that early chance, Spurs took control of the match. A quick breakaway down the wing saw Ryan Sessegnon given too much time to pick out and cross to the back post, finding the forward run of Matt Doherty, who made no mistake firing into the back of the net to open the scoring.

Just five minutes later, Tottenham had a second. The hard-work of Dejan Kulusevski on the right hand side this time saw the winger cut in and smash the ball into the bottom corner with his left-foot.

Looking to respond, Leeds were almost back in the game immediately. Raphinha linked up with Robin Koch in the box but the German’s shot frustratingly came back out, off the post.

Just before the 30 minute mark in the match, Tottenham further extended their advantage. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg chipped a ball over the Leeds defence to the back post, finding Harry Kane, who finished well across goal into the far corner to make it three.

The Whites had a chance to pull one back before the interval, with two chances of their own. Jack Harrison had a curling effort flicked just wide of the post, before Luke Ayling placed a header wide from Raphinha’s cross into the box.

HALF TIME: Leeds United 0-3 Tottenham Hotspur

Leeds made two changes during the interval. Mateusz Klich and Rodrigo entered the match in place of Struijk and Harrison.

The visitors had a good chance 15 minutes into the second half to extend their lead, when Doherty looked to get his second of the game. Meslier made a good save to deny him and Koch produced a solid block on the rebound from Son.

The Whites looked to press forward in search of a way back into the match. Klich struck from the edge and saw his effort saved by Lloris, before at the other end, the lively Kulusevski had another shot blocked.

The best chance for Leeds in this half came from Dallas. He raced over the halfway line and beat the outrushing Lloris to the ball, before his shot was eventually blocked on the line by a covering defender and cleared.

Further chances came and went at either end, before Spurs were able to wrap up the match and confirm the three points. Son had been a threat throughout and he got the fourth for his side after racing into the box and finishing well.

The final effort of the match fell the way of Leeds. Raphinha was brought down on the edge of the box and took the free-kick himself, striking the post with his left-footed strike. The whistle was blown shortly after to end the match.
