Leeds United recorded back to back Premier League wins with a thrilling 3-2 victory over West Ham United at the London Stadium, courtesy of a Jack Harrison hat-trick.

Head coach Marcelo Bielsa made four changes from the side which played West Ham United in the Emirates Cup FA Cup on the previous Sunday, which included defender Pascal Struijk who returned from injury.

Leeds made a bright start at the London Stadium and went ahead inside 10 minutes.  Raphinha made a great run down the right flank and teed up Mateusz Klich on the edge of the West Ham box.  His strike was superbly saved by Lukasz Fabianski, but from the rebound, Adam Forshaw reacted quickest and teed the ball up for Harrison to strike home.

Moments later Leeds nearly doubled the lead, the ball bounced up nicely from Dan James to strike from range, with his attempt going just inches over the crossbar.

Leeds were dealt an injury blow in the 22^nd minute with both Forshaw and Junior Firpo picking up problems and they were replaced by Lewis Bate and Leo Hjelde who both came on for Premier League debuts.

West Ham began to build up pressure following the goal and Pablo Fornals picked out Michail Antonio in the Leeds box and only a fine block from Stuart Dallas prevented him from getting a shot on target.

The hosts should have levelled the scores from a corner soon after.  Craig Dawson met Aaron Cresswell’s cross and had a free header at goal but could only put the chance wide.

Despite the warnings from the previous set-piece, West Ham levelled the scores in the 34^th minute, with Jarrod Bowen this time heading home from Cresswell’s ball into the Leeds box.

Leeds regained the lead three minutes later though, also from a corner.  Raphinha whipped in, Luke Ayling headed towards goal and Harrison tapped home his second on the line to make sure, sparking more mass celebrations in the away end.

Hammers captain Declan Rice had an opportunity for the hosts before the break when he was played through on goal and into the Leeds box, he rounded Meslier but could only find the side netting.

Leeds should have gone further ahead in stoppage time when Raphinha played James one-on-one with Fabianski, but he fired straight at the West Ham goalkeeper.

In the last action of the half James had another chance when he broke down the left flank and into the box, before curling a strike just inches wide, brining an entertaining first half to a close.

Rice had the first opportunity of the second half when the ball landed with him in the Leeds box, but he was unable to keep his strike down.

West Ham equalised for a second time in the match seven minutes into the second half.  Pablo Fornals picked the ball up on the left and weaved his way into the box, before finding the back of the net.

Harrison whipped a dangerous cross into the West Ham box as Leeds looked to regain the lead once more, but it just evaded James and Dallas at the back post couldn’t turn an effort on target.

Leeds regained the lead on the hour mark, Raphinha found Harrison in acres of space and played him into the West Ham box and he brilliantly lifted the ball over Fabianski to complete his first Premier League hat-trick.

The Whites almost went further ahead from a free kick soon after, with Raphinha’s strike hitting the post and James heading over with the follow up.

Mateusz Klich thought he had scored Leeds’ fourth when he found the net following Raphinha’s cut back after the Brazil international got to the byline, however, following a VAR intervention, the goal was ruled out for offside.

West Ham nearly levelled once more when Antonio fired a long throw into the box and it ended up falling to Bowen who slotted home, however the offside flag was immediately raised and the goal was chalked off.

Leeds continued to defend for their lives in the closing stages and the Hammers went close through Yarmolenko who forced Meslier into a really good stop, before Bowen headed over at the death as the Whites held on for a vital three points.
