Adam Forshaw signs new contract

Midfielder pens new deal.

Leeds United are delighted to announce midfielder Adam Forshaw has signed a new contract with the club.

Forshaw, whose current deal was due to expire at the end of the season, has agreed a one-year extension keeping him at Elland Road until the summer of 2023.

The club also holds an option within the new contract to extend it by a further 12 months.

The 30-year-old joined the Whites from Middlesbrough in January 2018 and made 12 appearances for the Whites during the second half of the 2017/18 campaign.

Marcelo Bielsa would arrive in the following summer and Forshaw went on to become a key player in the heart of the midfield under the Argentine in his first season.

However, in the next campaign he was struck by a hip injury and after being withdrawn against Charlton Athletic in October 2019, would be kept out of action for 22 months.

Following surgery and a lengthy rehab process, Forshaw made a successful comeback for the Whites in the Carabao Cup victory against Crewe Alexandra at Elland Road last August.

He has since battled his way back to become a first team regular for the Whites once again and in total this season, has featured 15 times for Bielsa’s side, once again becoming an integral part of the midfield.
