Kalvin Phillips: The results will come

Midfielder on Tottenham Hotspur defeat.

Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips spoke to the media following Sunday’s defeat at Tottenham Hotspur.

The Whites went in ahead at the break thanks to Dan James’ strike, but second half goals from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Sergio Reguilon, ensured Spurs took the three points at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Phillips gave his assessment of the game and believes a good run of form is just around the corner.

“In the first half we played some good football, we played at our tempo and right at the end of the half got the goal and we went in at half time really confident,” said Phillips.

“We knew Tottenham would come out in the second half wanting to press us and they did that well.

“We couldn’t play our game the same as we did in the first half and we’re very disappointed.

“Overall, we wanted to be a little bit more defensive as we knew the attacking threat of Harry Kane and Son and I think it worked well in the first half and even parts in the second half, we did very well against Harry, but a lack of concentration in some parts of the game cost us.

“We are missing some very good and important players in our team, such as Luke Ayling, Patrick Bamford, Raphinha and Rodrigo.

“It’s not an excuse, we came here and played some good football, everyone looks at Raphinha as a special talent, but Jack Harrison did really well, especially for the goal and took on the responsibility, both Jack and Dan James did that well.

“I’m not one to panic, the way we play football eventually we are going to stack up some points on the board.

“We’re a very fit team as well, the results will come, we just have to be more decisive in some areas of the game and concentrate a little bit more as well.”
