Leeds United captain Liam Cooper spoke to the media ahead of Sunday’s Premier League fixture with Tottenham Hotspur.

Earlier this week, the centre-back helped Scotland earn a seeded 2022 FIFA World Cup Play-Off spot, following victories over Moldova and Denmark.

Cooper played a key role in both victories and spoke about what the experience with Scotland has been like.

“It’s an unbelievable camp, we’ve had six wins on the bounce which is unbelievable at any level, especially at International level.

“We were desperate to beat one of the so called ‘bigger nations’ in qualification and we managed to do that the other night and sign off with a big result.

“There’s a lot of confidence in the camp and in the team and I’m delighted to be honest.

“To play a part in both games was unbelievable for me, hopefully I can continue to do that.’’

Attention now turns to Sunday and the Premier League, with Leeds looking to make it four games unbeaten in the top-flight.

Opponents Tottenham have hired Antonio Conte, who takes charge of his first home match at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and Cooper admitted the task ahead will be tough, but like always, the Whites will be doing everything possible to get the three points.

“Conte’s renowned around the world and he’s a serial winner and I’m sure their players will buy into it.

“We will prepare like we always do, for the best Tottenham Hotspur side to come out.

“They’ve got quality all over the pitch, Harry Kane, Son and Lucas Moura are all unbelievable players playing at the top of their game and it’s sods law that Kane has just scored seven goals in two games!

“We as a team, and me personally, I want to test myself against the best players in the world and we’ve definitely got that on Sunday.

“Hopefully I can give a good account of myself and we can get a strong performance from the team and prove we belong at this level.

“They are at home so it’s going to be tough in their own back yard, but we believe in what we do and the way we play and the way we set up and if we have 14 players who are 100 per cent at it, we give ourselves every chance to win the game.

“That’s the message to the lads, we want high intensity, not making mistakes and hopefully we can go and get a positive result there away from home.’’
