Marcos Abad Signs New Deal

Goalkeeper coach remains at Elland Road until 2025.

Leeds United are pleased to announce that Marcos Abad has signed a new contract to remain as First Team Goalkeeper Coach until 2025.

The 36-year-old Spaniard joined the Whites in 2017 having previously had spells with both Elche in Spain and Middlesbrough in England. Since Victor Orta brought him to Leeds, Abad has been an integral part of the backroom staff under Marcelo Bielsa, helping to develop the talented goalkeepers at the club.

The hard-work continued to show in the 2020/21 season when current number one Illan Meslier broke a long-standing Premier League record, by keeping eight clean sheets in the division before his 21st birthday.

Meslier finished the campaign with 11 clean sheets in 35 top-flight matches and signed a new five-year deal himself over the summer, praising Abad for playing a key part in his development.
