Leeds United made it three games unbeaten in the top-flight after a 1-1 draw with Leicester City at Elland Road.

Midfielder Adam Forshaw was handed his first Premier League start for the club, in the only change from last weekend’s victory over Norwich City.

The game started at a frantic pace, with both goalkeepers tested in the opening three minutes by Rodrigo and Harvey Barnes.

Jack Harrison came so close to breaking the deadlock soon after, only a superb save denied him, with his strike heading for the top corner.

From the resulting corner, Kalvin Phillips’ near post header was again saved by Schmeichel as the Whites continued to press for the opener.

Raphinha saw a penalty appeal turned away, before Dan James struck a half volley following a corner, which went just wide.

Leeds took the lead in the 26^th minute.  Raphinha won a free kick on the right side and his cross-cum-shot found the bottom corner.

Leeds’ lead didn’t last long though.  From the kick-off, Leicester hit straight back with Harvey Barnes finding the top corner, giving Meslier no chance.

Another set-piece led to another chance for Leeds, Stuart Dallas whipped in low and it deflected just wide off Ricardo Pereira.

Just before the break, Leicester had the opportunity to go ahead, when Ademola Lookman played Youri Tielemans in at goal, but he couldn’t keep his strike down.

Like the beginning of the match, it was a lively start to the second period.  Illan Meslier mis-controlled a back-pass from Liam Cooper, with the ball bouncing just wide of his net.

From the following corner, the ball came out to Tielemans, who struck just wide across goal.

Leeds should have gone ahead in the 49^th minute from a corner.  Phillips flicked on at the near post and Harrison could only put the chance over from two yards out.

James fired over as Leeds pressed to go ahead, before Rodrigo tested Schmeichel from 25 yards.

Soon after James again went close, bending a strike just wide, ahead of Stuart Dallas putting a lovely cross into the Leicester box, with Rodrigo volleying narrowly wide into the side netting.

In a rare chance for the visitors, Boubakary Soumare struck over from range, before Lookman’s cross deflected wide off Liam Cooper.

The Foxes thought they had gone ahead in the 67^th minute from a corner.  Jamie Vardy flicked on at the near post and Lookman converted at the back post, however after all the celebrations had taken place a VAR check ruled the goal out for offside, resulting in mass cheers from the home support.

Leicester again went close when Jamie Vardy stole possession from Cooper at the back allowing Tielemans in at goal, however Meslier raced off his line to make a really good save.

James fired over from the edge of the box for the Whites, before Leicester substitute Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall was denied by Meslier and Phillips made a vital block to deny Caglar Soyuncu’s shot with the goal gaping.

Raphinha nearly won it at the death, with his strike going just inches over the crossbar, but both teams had to settle for a point.
