Marcelo Bielsa: Every game is a new opportunity

Head coach on Leicester clash.

Marcelo Bielsa has spoken to the media ahead of the Premier League match with Leicester City this weekend.

Sunday’s encounter at Elland Road will see the Whites go in search of back to back wins for the first time in the league this season, having secured three points last weekend against Norwich City.

The Leeds United head coach began as always with a fitness update on his squad.

He said: “Luke Ayling, Patrick Bamford and Robin Koch will remain unavailable this weekend.

“On Junior Firpo and Jamie Shackleton, from here on now until Sunday, I will have a more clearer vision.

“Adam Forshaw is healthy, he has been training, and now he has to assimilate a succession of games.”

Looking ahead to the match itself, Bielsa was complimentary of his opposite number Brendan Rodgers when discussing the upcoming fixture.

“Every game is a new opportunity to have a range of performance and that’s how we interpret it,” Bielsa explained.

“From my point of view, he [Brendan Rodgers] is one of the referential coaches in this league.

“Due to what he has constructed within his team, he’s managed to have all of his individualities shine.

“He doesn’t have one tactical formation that is referential, not because he changes them constantly, because that’s what happens, but he changes them with sense and all of the different formations are very well formed, well articulated, and well oiled.

“Every year that goes past they [Leicester City] have better individualities than they had the previous years.

“Not only due to their signings, but also due to their development and how they have maintained their players.”
