Marcelo Bielsa: It was a deserved victory

Head coach reflects on Norwich victory.

Marcelo Bielsa gave his thoughts to the media after his side secured three important points away at Norwich City on Sunday.

The Whites scored twice in the second half at Carrow Road, either side of an equaliser from the hosts, with Raphinha and Rodrigo hitting the target.

Speaking after the match, the Leeds United head coach gave his immediate summary of the match.

“The performance was a deserved victory, the game was very disputed, it wasn’t an easy game to play for us,” Bielsa explained.

“We had many situations where we could have created danger but despite that, we didn’t manage to create that many.

“The ones we did obtain there wasn’t a great percentage that we could transform into a goal. It was difficult for us to play well with continuity.

“Despite that we had a lot of options in attack, it was difficult for us to create those situations into danger and those dangerous situations into goals.

“In general lines, it was a deserved win, in a game where it was difficult to stand out to shine.”

The game saw a few of the players return to the starting line-up who had recently been out with injury. Bielsa was asked what impact that had on the team and specifically about Raphinha’s display.

He said: “Today we had Kalvin and Raphinha back, and of course, the more of our usual players that are back, the more chances we have.

“Having said that, we are also missing Luke Ayling, Junior Firpo, Robin Koch and Patrick Bamford, and we were able to put out a good enough performance.

“Raphinha is a player that is different, that is special, with a capacity to unbalance that is very big.”
