Marcelo Bielsa: They are a solid team

Head coach ahead of Watford clash.

Marcelo Bielsa has spoken with the media at his pre-match press conference, prior to his side facing Watford on Saturday afternoon in the Premier League.

The Leeds United head coach gave an update on the fitness of his squad, whilst also sharing his overall views on our upcoming opponents as the Whites look to get their first league win of the campaign.

“They are a solid team,” Bielsa stated, when discussing Watford.

“They’re combative, with players of experience, and fundamentally complicate the development of the play of the opponent.

“They have forwards who are quick and can surprise you. They give a good complement to the defensive aspect by asking in behind.

“It’s always important to win, especially when you have gone six games without winning. If you occupy one of the last three positions in the table, even more so.”

With players having been unavailable through injury and suspension of late, Bielsa told of who would or wouldn’t be available this weekend - with Pascal Struijk returning following a three-match absence.

He said: “Raphinha is available, Patrick Bamford is not.

“Another player who was injured, who is now available, is Diego Llorente.

“Bamford has an ankle injury which will take him a few more weeks to resolve. It hasn’t been a simple injury.

“Luke Ayling has a problem in his knee that is going to require a simple surgical intervention, that will also require some time after this procedure is done.

“Robin Koch has a problem in his pubis which is a very rebellious injury, where there is no prognostic of when he will be recovered.

“It can last a short period of time, or a long period of time. That is subject to his evolution.”
