Mark Jackson: I have congratulated the staff and players

U23s head coach on thrilling display at Liverpool.

Mark Jackson expressed his delight for the performance and result from his team, as they hit four away from home against Liverpool.

The Whites were in control throughout the match and netted two goals in each half to continue their 100% record on the road in Premier League 2 this season.

“We’re delighted with the result and large elements of the performance as well,” Jackson told LUTV at full time.

“I have congratulated the staff and the players on the result today. I felt we put in a really, really strong performance and deserved the victory.

“We want to try and create chances and score goals, that’s how we play, that’s our input in every game we go to, we want to be creative and aggressive going forward.

“A pleasing element for me today was a clean sheet, that’s important. We’ve been shipping too many goals and chances for our liking so that was pleasing today along with the goals.”

Joe Gelhardt scored two stunning strikes, Amari Miller got his first league goal for the side and Pascal Struijk powered a header home as Leeds showed they are a threat from all areas.

“Everyone is responsible for us attacking, everyone is responsible for us defending as well,” Jackson explained.

“All over the pitch I thought we showed a good attitude to defending today. Everyone contributed to the goals and everyone contributed to the clean sheet as well.

“It’s instinctive play from Joffy [Gelhardt]. He’s seen something and executed it, we are pleased for him, he’s a player who can create goals like that and score goals like that.

“It was nice to see Amari get on the scoresheet against Tranmere in midweek and he’s backed that up today, he could have had another as well but he was ruled offside.

“We’ve got to spread the goals around the team, it was a really pleasing performance today and one we will build on.”
