Whites back in PL2 action.
Mark Jackson’s Under 23s side are back in Premier League 2 Division One action on Sunday afternoon, as they travel away in from home in search of three points against Liverpool (2pm).
This is match number five of the campaign for the two sides, who could both shoot right up the table with a win.
Currently sitting in sixth place, a win for Jackson’s Leeds United could propel them as high as 2nd, behind leaders Manchester City, whilst the Reds would be likely to get above Tottenham into 4th with a victory.
At the helm for the home side is Barry Lewtas. The U23s coach has progressed through the ranks with the Anfield outfit having managed a number of age groups. He took control of the 23s in May 2020 following Neil Critchley’s departure, after previously enjoying FA Youth Cup success with the Under 18s.
Top scorer so far this term for the Reds is Kaide Gordon. The forward joined from Derby County in February 2021 and the 16-year-old is certainly one to keep an eye on during the match, and in the future.
Sam Greenwood has edged slightly above Joe Gelhardt and Crysencio Summerville in the scoring charts for the Whites. The forward emphatically dispatched a penalty last time out against West Ham United at Thorp Arch to move onto three for the campaign.
Liverpool have drawn both of their home matches so far this season, 0-0 and 1-1, against Manchester City and Brighton. The Whites have won both matches on their travels, enjoying successes over Crystal Palace and Derby County.
Another exciting clash awaits when the two teams get underway at the LFC Academy on Sunday afternoon and you can keep up to date with all the action on leedsunited.com
