Leeds United announced the exciting arrival of Daniel James on Tuesday afternoon after he signed a five-year deal with the club.

The winger is our latest signing of the summer transfer window and will wear the number 20 shirt during his time at Elland Road.

Below you will find 10 facts detailing the footballing career of the established Premier League player, including his professional debut, international debut and first goals scored for each club he’s played for and his country.

  • Daniel James was born just an hour away from Elland Road in East Yorkshire on 10th November 1997, he is 23 years old.
  • The winger started his footballing career at Hull City’s Academy before moving to the Academy at Swansea City in 2015. He went on to make his professional debut for Swansea on 6th February 2018 in the fourth round of the FA Cup against Notts County, where he also managed to get on the scoresheet in the 8-1 thriller.
  • Daniel went on to make a total of 39 appearances for the Swansea City first team, scoring six times and providing 10 assists, before his Premier League move to Manchester United in the summer of 2019.
  • During his two-year spell he played in a range of competitions for the local rival, including the Premier League, Champions League, Europa League, FA Cup and EFL Cup, making a total of 74 competitive appearances.
  • James marked his Premier League debut for Manchester United with a goal, coming on as a second-half substitute in the 4-0 win against Chelsea on 11th August 2019. He went on to score twice more during his first month, picking up the club’s Player of the Month award for August 2019.
  • The soon-to-be-dad played his part in 18 goals during his time at Manchester United, scoring 9 times in three different competitions, including the Premier League (6), Champions League (1) and Europa League (2), whilst providing nine assists across all competitions.
  • The winger scored his first Champions League goal on 24th November 2020 against Basaksehir at Old Trafford, with Manchester United running out 4-1 winners.
  • The 23-year-old made his debut for the Wales senior team on 20th November 2018 during an international friendly against Trinidad, just 10 days after his 21st birthday.
  • He has made a total of 24 appearances for the Wales senior team to date, scoring four goals in that time and was part of the recent 2020 UEFA European Football Championship alongside his new club teammate, Tyler Roberts.
  • His first senior goal for Wales came against Slovakia on 24th March 2019 in a European Qualifier. In each game the forward has scored for Wales the team have won the match, with him also scoring against Belarus, Finland, and the Czech Republic.
