Leeds United had to settle for a point at Turf Moor against Burnley, who were in the lead for a large period of the second half. The match saw two former players for either team score the goals, Chris Wood’s opener was cancelled out late on by Patrick Bamford.

In a clash that took a while to get going in Lancashire, Raphinha was the first to have an effort of note, but in a story of much of the game, it was well blocked and cleared.

The hosts were limited to set-piece opportunities and they had plenty of them in what was becoming a stop-start match. However, Leeds stood firm to deny them, with Johann Gudmundsson coming closest.

Raphinha had another strike as the interval drew closer, and Illan Meslier was forced into action when he did well to save Wood’s volley. The best chance before the break came for Jack Harrison, who looked to have an effort going in only to be denied by Dwight McNeil.

The whistle did arrive to signal the end of the first 45 minutes, in a half that had seen plenty of yellow cards shown, but no goals.

HALF TIME: Burnley 0-0 Leeds United

Both teams came out unchanged for the second half and it began in a similar fashion. Leeds and Burnley were equally looking to attack, but nothing of note was being created.

Just after the hour mark and following a spell of pressure from the Clarets, they did take the lead. From a corner, a scramble ensued in the box and eventually Wood was there to flick the ball beyond Meslier from Matt Lowton’s already goal-bound effort.

Jamie Shackleton and Tyler Roberts were brought into the game in place of Rodrigo and Diego Llorente, and the former made an impact almost immediately as his link-up play down the wing with Raphinha set the Whites back on the front foot.

With Bielsa’s side pushing forward and in search of an equaliser, it finally arrived with around five minutes remaining thanks to superb work in the build up from Raphinha.

Following the the Brazilian's run and shot being blocked, Shackleton’s effort inside the box was deflected and fortunately it went straight into the path of Bamford who showed alertness to flick the ball into the net.

Meslier still had to be alert following the goal and he made a smart stop to deny Wood moments later, whilst Leeds then looked to counter but were also denied by the Burnley backline.

The full-time whistle was blown and both teams took a point away from a battling encounter.
