Mark Jackson: I was happy with the work rate and attitude

Under 23s head coach on Spurs defeat.

Mark Jackson gave his thought to LUTV after his side were defeated at Thorp Arch in the Premier League 2 Division One.

Despite plenty of early chances for Leeds, Tottenham were clinical with their finishing and eventually won the match 4-2.

“It was a very difficult game and obviously not the result we wanted,” Jackson stated after the match.

“There are lots of positives to take from the game, I think we created chances, played our way and tried to impose our style on Tottenham.

“I think we did that successfully, we just showed a lot of naivety in the goals we conceded and we’re not happy to concede that amount of goals within a game.

“That’s something we’ll need to look at and address, but there are still lots of positives to take from the game in regards our identity.

“If you look at it, people will say that’s our identity as a team and how we want to play with an intensity and on the front foot.”

Having stepped up a league following promotion last season, Jackson spoke of the clinical nature of teams in this league but also continued to praise his own side for their effort.

“They were clinical,” he said.

“We weren’t as clinical. In the second half we created some pressure against them and we needed the ball to go in, but we just couldn’t find the back of the net.

“I think if the equaliser had gone in, the momentum would have shifted in our favour but we couldn’t get the break through.

“We kept pushing, I was happy with the work rate and attitude of the players.”
