The Whites take on Real Betis

A look into our pre-season fixture.

Leeds United will face La Liga side, Real Betis in a pre-season friendly. The match is due to be played at Loughborough University on Saturday 31st July 2021 (12:30pm BST). Betis enjoyed a productive season in La Liga last year, finishing in 6th place and qualifying for the Europa League.

Who is in charge of Real Betis?

A well known figure in the Premier League having won the title with Manchester City, the Whites will be up against Manuel Pellegrini in the opposition dugout. The now 67-year-old also had an 18-month spell with West Ham United. He joined Real Betis in July 2020 and guided them into a Europa League finishing position last season.

A player to watch?

With goals and assists regularly from his attacking midfield slot, Sergio Canales will be looking to pull the strings for his side. The former Real Madrid player and Spanish international is often at the heart of what is a talented squad for Los Verdiblancos!

A possible reunion?

Summer arrival Junior Firpo will be facing his former side if selected for the match. The full-back joined the Whites recently from Barcelona, after he had progressed through the ranks with Betis before joining the Spanish giants. He made 43 appearances for Real Betis and will be coming up against some familiar faces as he settles into life with Leeds United.

Where will the match be played?

The game is set to take place at Loughborough University. Roughly an hour and a half down the M1, the University Stadium can accommodate a capacity of 3,500 fans whilst offering high-performances pitches and facilities.
